Age Groups/Levels

Minis: 5 - 7 Years
Juniors: 7 - 12 Years
Beginner: New to dance or limited experience
Intermediate: Moderate experience
Advanced: At least 3 years experience

Acroarts

NOTE: ACROARTS is determined by ability and not limited to age ranges.


ACROARTS Minis

 

New to acrobatics for dance. At this level students will work on basic foundational flexibility, strength and skills in a high-energy 45-minute class.

ACROARTS Beginner

 

Beginner acrobatics for dance. At this level students will develop skills in upper body strength and overall flexibility. Acrobatic skills being developed include handstand postures, cartwheels, roundoffs and forward and backward rolls, as well as basic bridge postures and limbers.

Upon correct technical skill demonstration at this level, students will be able to trial Acroarts intermediate.

ACROARTS Intermediate

 

Students will develop more intermediate level upper body strength and flexibility. Skills focused on include more advanced bridge postures, cartwheel variations, dive rolls, forward and backward walkovers, bridge kick overs, and elbow and chin stands.

Upon correct technical skill demonstration at this level, students will be able to trial Acroarts Intermediate.

ACROARTS Advanced Level 1

 

Students will gain more advanced upper body strength and flexibility. Skills focused on include forward and backward tinski, cartwheel and walkover combinations, side aerials, elbow and chin stand variations.

Upon correct technical skill demonstration at this level, students will be able to trial Acroarts Advanced Level 2

ACROARTS Advanced Level 2

 

Students will gain significant upper body strength and flexibility. Skills to be developed include aerial combinations, front and backward step-outs, basic contortion training, and handsprings.

Contemporary


Contemporary Foundations

(12 - 15 YEARS)

 

Tailored for the beginner teen contemporary dancer. Students will learn foundational technical skills in contemporary dance, including floor skills, partner work and movement progressions. Students will also experience a range of contemporary dance chorography.

Junior Contemporary

(7 - 12 YEARS)

 

Tailored for the beginner contemporary dancer aged 7 – 12 years. Students will learn foundational technical skills in contemporary dance, including floor skills, partner work and movement progressions. Students will also experience a range of contemporary dance chorography.

Intermediate Contemporary

(11 - 15 YEARS)

 

Tailored for students who have previous experience in contemporary and ballet classes. Students will learn intermediate level technical skills, including floor skills, partner work and movement progressions. Students will also experience a range of more challenging contemporary dance chorography.

Advanced Contemporary

(14+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for students who have significant technical and performance experience in contemporary dance and ballet. Students will learn advanced technical skills, including floor skills, partner work and movement progressions. Students will also experience a range of more vigorous and challenging contemporary dance chorography.

Jazz


Junior Jazz

(7 - 12 YEARS)

 

Tailored for the beginner junior jazz dance. Students will learn basic foundational jazz technique and skills, as well as experience fun and vibrant jazz choreography.

Beginner/Intermediate Teen Jazz

(11+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for beginner to intermediate jazz dancers aged 11+ years. Students will learn and develop foundational jazz technique and skills, as well as experience a range of innovative jazz choreography (Commercial, Broadway, Musical Theatre).

Intermediate/Advanced Teen Jazz

(11+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for the students who have previous experience in jazz classes, as well as more accomplished technical skills. Students will extend their jazz technique and skills, as well as experience innovative jazz choreography in a range of styles (Commercial, Broadway, Musical Theatre).

Advanced Jazz

(14+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for the students who have significant technical and performance experience in jazz classes. Students will develop advanced jazz technique and skills, and be challenged by more vigorous and complex jazz choreography in a range of styles (Commercial, Broadway, Musical Theatre).

Classical Ballet


Beginner Ballet

(10 - 12 YEARS)

 

Tailored towards students who have not previously participated in ballet classes. Students will develop effective alignment, learn critical ballet terminology and work to improve turn out. Students will also experience ballet exercises and progressions at the barre and in centre.

RAD and RAD/RTS Ballet Classes

 

 

Royal Academy of Dance – Grade and Vocational Examinations Syllabus + Repertoire Syllabus

All ballet classes at The Training Ground follow the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus and technique. We offer students the opportunity to sit RAD examinations and awards, and or work within the syllabus technique. Mrs Anne Reardon (RAD/RTS), will oversee the provision of all RAD ballet classes.

Tap


Beginner/Intermediate Tap

(8+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for the beginner tap dancer with little to no experience required. Students will learn beginner level foundational tap technique and skills, as well as experience a range of innovative tap choreography.

Intermediate/Advanced Tap

(14+ YEARS)

 

Tailored for the students who have significant technical and performance experience in tap. Students will develop advanced tap technique and skills, and be challenged by more vigorous and complex tap choreography. Tailored to extend dancers regardless of the type of tapping techniques and syllabus work previously learned.

Street Dance


Junior Street Dance

(7-12 YEARS)

 

A Street Dance (including hip hop) class aimed at the enthusiastic beginner. Students will learn a range of street dance styles, including Hip Hop, Popping, Breaking, Locking, House and W_acking. With a combination of technique, freestyle and choreography this class will excite and inspire all junior students, regardless of street dance experience.

Open Street Dance

(13+ YEARS)

 

Tailored to dancers with experience in technical and or street dance/hip hop styles. Students will develop skills in a range of street dance styles, including Hip Hop, Popping, Breaking, Locking, House and W_acking. With a combination of technique, freestyle and choreography this class with extend all students regardless of street dance experience.

Core Strengthening


Fit To The Core

(13+ YEARS/ADULTS)

 

Tailored towards anyone wanting to work specifically on core strength and control. This fitness class will build and improve core muscle groups, posture, stability and balance.

Contemporary Dance Project Training and Rehearsal

During these sessions, dancers selected for our 2024 community-based project will learn and rehearse set works. The rigorous contemporary dance project will culminate in public performances of an original, full length contemporary dance work.

TTG TROUPE

(6+ YEARS)

 

Training and Rehearsal

These classes will see students learning and rehearsing choreography for eisteddfods, competitive events and performances.

Junior Troupe: 12 Years and Under

Other Options


Solos/Duets/Trio Competition Training

 

We offer students the opportunity to learn and perform a solo/duet/trio at various competitions. This is subject to application.

Private Tuition

 

Subject to availability, our teachers can be booked for skills-based private lessons.

Dance Conditioning

 

These sessions are designed to develop strength, flexibility and overall mobility of the dancer. These will be run in a specially equipped studio space. Private bookings are available for individuals or in small groups. Subject to availability.
