We are thrilled to announce that 15 of our young artists will again be working with Tim Podesta, this time as part of his newly launched Junior Company. This opportunity involves exclusive fortnightly rehearsals with Tim at The Training Ground studios to create a new full-length contemporary dance work. This project will culminate in several professional performances: in Wodonga VIC on 18 October 2024 and at the prestigious The Edge Theatre, Federation Square, Melbourne in 7 December 2024.
About Tim Podesta: Choreographer, Scientist, Innovator
Tim Podesta’s multifaceted career bridges art and science in dance. A former soloist with the Australian Ballet School, he transitioned from performer to choreographer following a knee injury, which sparked his interest in human movement and physiology.
Podesta’s choreographic works have graced international stages, collaborating with prestigious companies like The Queensland Ballet and The Hong Kong Ballet. Through Tim Podesta Creative, he’s expanded into film and architectural installations, showcasing his versatility.
His inclusive initiatives, such as the Dis/assemble Dance Project and Dance For Humanity, have made significant impacts in professional development and humanitarian efforts within the dance community.
As an exercise scientist, Podesta researches dance-specific periodisation to optimise performance and reduce injuries. His expertise benefits dancers of all levels, including Olympic athletes.
Globally recognized as an educator, competition judge, and motivational speaker, Podesta continues to shape the arts and promote holistic well-being. His 2024 engagements span Australasia, Europe, the United States, and the United Kingdom, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to excellence in both artistic and scientific realms.
