THE EDGE: A Launching Pad for Serious Dancers

THE EDGE just proved what is possible when rigorous training meets real performance opportunity. Two of our lead dancers have already been offered places — one with scholarship — in New York’s Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensives, and these and other dancers have also secured spots in pre-professional programs at SDCPPY and the Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School.

This is what our pre-professional contemporary dance program is built to create.

What Dancers Gained

THE EDGE was an intensive, industry-standard training pathway, giving dancers:

∙ Advanced contemporary technique and specialised floor work

∙ Professional pas de deux and acrobatic instruction

∙ Real performance experience in a full-length, professionally produced work

∙ Direct pathways into tertiary dance programs and professional companies

It is more than a performance — it is a bridge between studio training and a professional career.

Critically Acclaimed

Under the direction of Bonnie Neate and Suzy Piani, THE EDGE followed a young employee’s collision with a corrupt corporate world, told through demanding unison movement and striking choreography.

In his review for Arts Review, critic Bill Stephens OAM praised Emily McCoy’s captivating performance and the production’s ambitious scale. Read the full review HERE.

THE EDGE joins a track record of acclaimed original works — including wins at the Canberra Critics Circle Awards for UNVEILED, UNRAVEL, UNHINGED, WIRED, and THE FOLD.
