Genevieve (Gen) Wood is a dedicated tap teacher with a lifelong love of rhythm and movement. She began dancing at the age of four in Wollongong, NSW, training in jazz, tap, and ballet. An avid tapper from the very beginning, she competed as both a soloist and troupe member at local and national eisteddfods, and has completed the Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus. Gen moved naturally into teaching and has been casually teaching tap now for over a decade, working with Juniors to Adults of all skill levels to build confident, musical tap technique.
Committed to ongoing learning, Gen is a member of the Tap Teachers’ Lounge, having completed the Tap Teachers Training Course with renowned artist Karida Griffith Walker. She is a regular at the Australian Tap Dance Festival in Melbourne, taking master classes with Australia’s leading tap choreographers. She also takes any chance to join classes while abroad—never travelling without a pair of tap shoes and always keen to connect with tap teachers and communities around the world.
Gen’s classes are shaped by this constant pursuit of fresh inspiration, blending dynamic choreography with a strong technical foundation. Her warm and encouraging teaching style fosters musicality, confidence, and the sheer joy of creating rhythm with your feet—whether introducing beginners to their first time-step or refining advanced skills and choreography.
